I have really thick super wavy sorta textured hair ... these are great for pinning back front layersThe size is PERFECT for my needs - the 1.37" wide ones stand out too much & have more clip than needed while the .9" ones don't hold enough - this 1.1" x 0.8" size seems new on the markedI'm pretty much only using these for casual outdoor things but the nice this is that the actual bit you pinch with your fingers to open the clip is TINY ... which means it blends into hair much better & you don't wind up with a prominent big stupid plastic bump on the top of your headThe clip to pinch part is ratio really favors the hair-holding end over the pinch to open endMy only complaint - I wish these came in blonde or tan or clear or even pinkish clear ... the black & dark tortoise colors stand out more than I like in my medium honey blonde hair
